Plasma Water Table Journey #7

Well it’s done! But it’s bittersweet because I enjoyed the journey so much. I’m not sure if this is my destination because there is a lot more to do. For example, I have to install the clamps, weld a bottom storage platform, and attach some kind of torch/cable holder. So lot’s more to do. I started out today cleaning any existing rust that was still on the metal. Also I did more cleanup grinding to the welds that I missed.

I dusted it off and cleaned it with acetone before painting. I used Rustoleum’s Semi-Gloss Black General Purpose Spray Paint and primer. I put about two coats and also painted the casters. I taped the bearings and internal adjustment knobs to prevent them from getting gummed up by the paint. Everything came out as expected. Not the best paint job but it’s good.

After painting the table frame, I cleaned up the slats and also painted them to protect against rust. I plan on using an anticorrosive chemical in the water to combat against further rust.

After painting the slats, I let everything dry and grabbed the reservoir tank and cleaned it. I then installed the tank and the slats. It was done! Well, the first part of it anyway.

As I said earlier, I have a lot more modifications to do. Those will be additional blog posts and episodes. Meanwhile, I couldn’t be happier and I’m sure this will come in handy for when I plasma cut. Enjoy the finished photos!
